What I’ve Been Up To This Week...

Other than reading those Song of Ice and Fire books which I can’t seem to put down and torturing myself at the gym- I’ve been catching up on some projects at the studio. (Riding the subway to the studio let’s me read without feeling guilty that I should be doing something else.)

Thank you Mercury in retrograde! I always use this time to get through projects that I have put aside and can’t seem to make myself work on.  I am now up to my eyeballs in 19- yes, you read it correctly- nineteen!! projects.   Two of which I was supposed to finish a year ago.  Everything is going smoothly and I can’t wait to see these finished ‘coz some of these stones are awesome.

Here’s a sneak peak....

What’s Going On At Holly’s Apartment??

I have always loved going over to Holly’s apartment - it’s cozy and so tastefully decorated.  I recently had dinner with Holly at an Upper West Side Belgian Restaurant. I was thoroughly enjoying my steak and fries when Holly told me she was turning her apartment into a virtual pop-up shop.  I was really intrigued.

You may be asking yourself... "who the heck is Holly??”  Holly Katz is a super talented, creative gal who has travelled the globe working for Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Coach, J. Crew and others. She has an exquisite eye for subtle elegance that shows in her personality as well as her surroundings.  She has transformed her apartment into a marketplace to share her own creations in addition to vintage finds and luxury goodies. What could be better than that??  Not only is it a beautifully styled space but you can actually buy almost everything that you see.

Each area of the apartment has a different theme and is exquisitely staged as only Holly can do. I stopped by on a sweltering day in July and she rearranged everything at least 3 times while I was there!!!

There is a new collection of painstakingly selected and collected stuff every month so make sure to check back often or you just might miss something special. August’s collection features ME!! Yes, li’l old me!! You can find my hand silkscreened Moleskine journals, copper bangles, foldformed copper cuffs and much more. There is also a super cool golf bag, a gorgeous woven leather Bottega Veneta cosmetic case, and a set of miniature Hermes ashtrays!!! Go check out Holly’s Apartment,  buy something cool and of course tell all of your friends.

Etsy Contest with NASA

Etsy is having a contest in collaboration with NASA.  It's to honor the space shuttle program which will end in 2011.  There were  three categories to enter - 2D Original Art, 2D Art Reproduction and 3D Art.

Since I love anything to do with outer space I just had to enter this contest!!  I made these three things.....

Jupiter Stone Pendant

Starburst Pendant

Moldavite Ring

I entered the Moldavite ring because the rules only allowed one entry per category.  Bummer!!!  It was a tough choice between the Jupiter Stone pendant and the ring but the ring won out.

They will pick 150 entries as semi-finalists and then open the contest up for voting by the public on Nov. 12th.

Let's hope that I get picked!!
